Frequently Asked Questions About Hearing Aids

As an independent clinic, we offer unbiased access to all major hearing aid brands (e.g., Phonak, Oticon, Widex). This ensures our recommendations are based purely on your diagnostic needs and lifestyle, not manufacturer contracts or sales targets.

Hearing aids are an investment in your quality of life. Prices vary based on the technology level (e.g., AI features, connectivity). We focus on value and long-term support, providing transparent pricing that includes expert fitting and comprehensive aftercare.

Yes. Our expert fitting goes beyond simple programming. We use advanced diagnostic tools and real-world simulations to fine-tune your devices, ensuring they deliver clear, comfortable speech understanding in challenging listening situations like restaurants or groups.

Our long-term care ensures your investment is protected. This includes regular auditory re-assessments, routine cleaning and maintenance, software updates, and necessary fine-tuning appointments to adapt the aids as your hearing changes over time.

Yes, we specialise in the latest invisible-in-the-canal (IIC) and other discreet hearing aids. We can discuss custom-made, virtually unnoticeable solutions designed for those who prioritise aesthetics.

The short answer is yes, if you have hearing loss in both ears. Sound reaches each ear at slightly different times and at slightly different volumes, and the brain can interpret these differences to cancel out some of the background noise and focus on the speech signals it gets. We know that if the brain gets two signals from our ears it takes the brain less effort to detect and interpret the sounds it is receiving.

You will need to clean your hearing aids. We will tell you how to clean your hearing aids at your appointments with us. Cleaning instructions are also available in your instruction booklet that comes with your hearing aid.

Hearing aids (when they are well fitted) should not whistle whilst they are in your ears. If your hearing aids are whistling in your ears, please arrange an appointment so that we can help you correct this. If you hold a hearing aid when it is switched on it will usually whistle.

Every person has a different hearing loss and the level of hearing that remains different for each person. Tiny hearing aids are only suitable for some types and levels of hearing loss. By having your hearing tested we will be able to tell you which types and shapes of hearing aids are suitable for your unique needs.

We will show you how to look after your hearing aids properly. In general, keeping them dry, placing them in a safe place when not in your ears and cleaning them regularly will keep them in good condition.
