When excess earwax causes discomfort, hearing loss, or pain, you need a solution that is quick, safe, and performed by an expert. At The Audiology Expert, we offer the Microsuction technique, widely regarded as the gold standard for ear wax removal across the UK. Our audiologists may use other techniques if microsuction is not suitable for you. This may include irrigation and/or instrumentation.

Our service is performed only by qualified, registered audiologists—never by technicians or nurses—ensuring the highest clinical standard of care. We prioritise your comfort and safety, providing fast, gentle relief and clear results so you can return to effortless hearing immediately.

Why Microsuction is the Gold Standard for Wax Removal

We choose Microsuction wherever suitable because it is the safest and most advanced method available, minimising risk while maximising comfort and effectiveness.

Clinically Proven Safety

Microsuction uses gentle suction to remove wax under direct vision using a surgical-grade head loupes. Unlike ear syringing, this method does not use water, dramatically reducing the risk of infection or damage to the eardrum.

Expert Precision

The procedure is always performed by our qualified audiologists, who have the necessary training and clinical insight to assess your ear health before, during, and after the removal.

Instant Relief

The process is typically quick and comfortable, often resulting in immediate and dramatic improvements in hearing clarity.

Frequently Asked Questions About Ear Wax Removal

The procedure is generally painless. You may feel a slight tickle or sensation of coolness, and you will hear the suction machine. Our audiologists prioritise comfort and safety, and will stop immediately if you experience any discomfort.

The entire consultation, including the initial ear health check, typically takes between 30 and 45 minutes. The actual wax removal procedure usually takes less than 30 minutes, often providing immediate hearing improvement.

We don’t recommend using wax softening drops before we examine your ear as you may have an infection or another contraindication. In most cases drops are not needed for safe removal.

I went to see Keyla with a completely blocked ear. She was fantastic, very friendly and explained everything. She cleared my ears brilliantly. Wouldn’t go anywhere else - 100% recommend!
